Whether you have a migraine headache or a cluster headache both can be completely debilitating. Migraine headaches usually have an aura and nausea prior to the onset of pain where cluster headache sufferers get a runny nose and watery eyes.  They also experience pain on one side of the head.

Cluster headaches are known as "suicide headache". Some would describe the pain on a scale of 1-10 as a 50. This should give you an idea of how bad the pain can get. • Abortive/symptomatic (eg, oxygen, triptans, ergot alkaloids, and anesthetics)
  • Preventive/prophylactic (eg, calcium channel blockers, mood stabilizers, and anticonvulsants)

In the next section of this blog, we would like to discuss a little known natural treatment that has been helping people recover from a host of chronic conditions.  The medical approach to health care is palliative and symptom-based.  Rarely does medicine treat the cause?

Rather they use drugs to cover up symptoms.  While this may provide the relief it does not produce a cure.  A cure result from doing something to the body that allows for it to heal through the underlying reason it exists in the first place.

Cluster headaches and most health conditions for that matter are NOT CAUSED by a drug deficiency! Their cause is the result of poor function.  Function in the body is controlled by the central nervous system  The central nervous system controls and coordinates everything.

Since it is the basis of all function it is one of the most important yet least understood components of health in the US. The public has been led to believe that health comes from a bottle of drugs.  Most who have been chronically ill come to find that medicine has little to offer in the form of healing.

A Different Model of Health Care-Upper Cervical Chiropractic and  Cluster Headaches

There are many studies that show cluster headaches can be helped or eliminated by using specific Upper Cervical Care. (1,2) Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a little known specialty that focuses on the relationship of the c-1 and c-2 vertebra in the neck and their relationship with the brain-stem and spinal nerves.

Many people have injuries that can cause tissue injury to the joints, ligaments, and soft tissue where the head meets the neck.  This area is the most vital area of the nervous system and essentially controls most of the functions in the body.

The Upper Cervical Approach follows a simple philosophy.  Sickness is the result of interference to normal function.  Most diseases, symptoms, and syndromes are the effect of an underlying cause.  All function is controlled by the central nervous system.

Interference to the nervous system must result in abnormal function.  The abnormal function can result in a multitude of symptoms and syndromes.  The Upper Cervical idea is to correct interferences to the central nerve system.

Once corrected the body is able to function better and correct underlying causes of many health conditions. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired try a NEW APPROACH!
