Therapy & treatment versus health restoration

Posted in Therapy on May 23, 2018

Therapy, therapists, and treatment

There are two main ideas in health care, therapy & treatment versus health restoration. Our current mainstream model of health care looks at the end result of ill health, names it (diagnosis) then treats it.

Then at the other end of the spectrum, a little known technique called Blair upper cervical care has the goal of restoring normal function by removing impediments to the central nervous system. Each system of health care has its splice however a large number of people suffering from chronic health problems are receiving symptom treatment care when they should be receiving care the restores nervous system function to aid natural healing.

Treatment implies using some modality whether it be medication, physical therapy, or herbs to alleviate a symptom. Many times therapy and treatment can help reduce symptoms, however, it usually doesn’t produce healing because the underlying cause wasn’t addressed.

Whether you have neck pain and treat it with painkilling medication, or high blood pressure and take high blood pressure medication, or have low back pain and take muscle relaxers you are still treating the effect, not the cause.

Many times therapy can make people feel better, which they are grateful for, but oftentimes other care is necessary to help the body restore health. In the next section of this article, we are going to discuss a different paradigm of health care that aims to restore health by increasing the nervous system function by removing impediments to its normal function.

Los Angeles Upper Cervical - Therapy or Natural Healing? Blair Upper Cervical Technique is a form of Upper Cervical Health Care that is used in our Los Angeles based upper cervical spine centers. The approach of upper cervical care is quite different than symptom treatment and therapy. The central nervous system controls and coordinates ALL body function and as a result, if it is interfered with then it cannot carry out the body functions normally.

This can result in a plethora of health conditions. Our Los Angeles based doctors are specially trained in Blair Upper Cervical to work to find prior upper neck injury. Post-concussion, whiplash, and other trauma can cause the head-neck junction or crania cervical junction to misalign. Misalignments at the crania cervical junction have a large impact on the central nervous system and can be responsible for a host of chronic health conditions.

Blair upper cervical chiropractors are specially trained to locate at what level in the neck they exist and what direction the spinal misalignment has occurred. This is done through precise imaging known as cone beam computerized tomography or digital x-ray. By imaging the joints between the head and neck a precise misalignment pattern can be gleaned that is individual to each person. Once located a precise adjustment is made by the chiropractor that does NOT include any twisting popping or pulling.

Once corrected the patient is monitored over a period of time to ensure the correction is “holding”. If the objective findings suggest that the vertebrae have misaligned again another correction or adjustment is made. If the test indicates that it is in its normal range of motion no correction is made. Blair technique relies on the body’s own inherent healing capacity. With that said it is paramount that the patient is checked over time to allow the body to heal.

Our Los Angeles office services patients from Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Westwood, and our Carson office serves patients from el Segundo, Torrance, Long Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach.
