One of the most common conditions today is straight neck syndrome or loss of neck curve. A normal neck posture is a backwards c-shaped curve of the neck which allows for the proper balancing of the head over the shoulders. The normal cervical lordosis develops around the 2nd and 3rd month when the child learns to keep his head upright against gravity. In our Los Angeles Blair upper Cervical Chiropractic office, we find that well over 50 percent of our patient population comes into our office with straight neck syndrome.

Plagiocephaly also known as misshapen head can be related to upper cervical spine injury which occurs at birth. The muscles of the neck and head can become spastic due to the top vertebrae becoming locked out of its normal position. This can lead to the infant sleeping on only one side because it is comfortable leading to one head being shaped differently compared to the other. Upper Cervical chiropractic has been known to be effective for plagiocephaly.
